Team: Stefan Vogtenhuber
 



Stefan studied sociology at the University of Vienna and obtained his degree in 2002 (Mag. rer. soc. oec). After working as news editor in economics and politics at the Austrian daily newspaper derStandard.at, he joined the departments’ academic staff in 2004. In 2015, he finished his doctoral studies in Sociology (Dr. phil.) with the cumulative thesis entitled "The Impact of Vocational Specificity, Quality and Stratification of Educational Systems on the Labour Market Outcomes of Education and Training". In 2008, he was awarded with the Austrian Vocational Education and Training Research Award for his paper on "Returns to Education and Training in Austria".


Main areas of research:

Research in the field of education and training, focusing on labour market outcomes of educational activities (benefits of education and training), transition from initial education to work, costs and financing of education and training, secondary analysis of large scale assessments of student and adult competences (PIRLS, TIMSS, PISA, PIAAC).
